Hardy, precocious tree. Hangs well on the tree. Thin for larger size.
Apple Color:
Skin green or greenish yellow washed with dull red with prominent darker red or purplish broken stripes, covered with a heavy bluish bloom; dots numerous, prominent, white.
Size:
Small to medium size and round conic, often tending to be assymetric with wide and pronounced ribbing; Flesh yellow or yellowish white, crisp, juicy, aromatic.

History:
Akane apple tree was developed at the Morioka Experimental Station, Japan, 1937. A cross between Jonathan and Worcester Pearmain. Sometimes known as Tokyo Rose. The Akane apple tree produces an outstanding red dessert apple; also great for drying.
