History:

1988 Illinois. This tree is named after Daniel F. Dayton, who led the disease-resistant apple breeding program for many years at the University of Illinois. Its parents are breeding selections whose ancestry includes Rome Beauty, Melba, Wealthy, and Jonathan.

Doesn’t store more than a few weeks.

Uses:

Fresh eating, baking.
