“Agriculture is our wisest pursuit, because it will in the end contribute most to real wealth, good morals & happiness.” – Thomas Jefferson
October 15th: Fruit trees are a passion project of mine, unfortunately some years life gets in the way of passion. This year, after the spring, the trees were pretty much left on their own. The weeds grew completely out of control and I’m just now weedwacking my way in. I see very few trees that did not make it (death by drought) and it looks like all the 2025 varieties this year did well. No one showing any significant disease vulnerabilities.
I’m in the process of moving the trees around and taking account of everybody. I’ve had some people email asking about planting now. YES, the fall is actually the prime time to plant. Fall is best. Spring is great. Any time the ground isn’t frozen works.
Remember, I sell baby whip trees. Not the unhealthy feathered, older trees you get in the box store. Those trees can’t have healthy roots in a small pot.
This website is dedicated to providing information to help you choose and successfully grow fruit trees in the Piedmont North Carolina area.
Our way is a simpler way.
A return to connecting with the natural world, relying on science to reinforce this connection, not as a means to bypass it. We support organic growing practices, that limit all toxic chemicals and manmade substances that have a negative environmental impact.
[Save the bees! Commercial bee keepers are reporting record-breaking colony losses in 2025. ]
GoodApple.Info is being built as a shopping cart website as the most efficient means to present a large catalog of fruit tree varieties. At this time we have no plans to sell anything online. All fruit trees are sold in person, in Rockwell N.C. and the immediate surrounding areas.

A lot of what you know about growing fruit trees is probably wrong. MOST of the information circulating around the big box stores and nurseries comes from commercial orchard operations. The approach for a small home grower can be quite different… the approach for a small, home, organic grower, even more so!
